Purpose: Prof. Cha Yuming has engaged in the clinical medical work for more than seven decades and obtained rich clinical experience in the treatment of diabetes mellitus from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine. The thesis aims to sort out and summary his clinical experience, so as to provide guidance for clinical practice in treating diabetes mellitus.Method: By studying with Teacher Jiang hong, who is the inheritor of Prof. Cha, I learnt a lot. By means of making house calls, warding round, giving lessons, studying the medical record? academic paper and research products of Prof. Cha, taking an active part in routine of workshop, collecting and sorting out relative data, summarizing the understanding towards the etiology and pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus, as well as the characteristic of treatment based on syndrome differentiation.Results:Prof. Cha combines classical works of TCM? previous medical documents? modern medical thoughts with clinical practice during working in the clinical medical work for more than seven decades. He breaks away from rules and establishes new treatment of diabetes mellitus in TCM syndrome differentiation ingeniously. Prof. Cha holds the view that dispersion-thirst disease includes some diabetes mellitus(DM). It is usually caused by improper diet?emotional disturbance?indulgence in sexual activities?a suit of warm dry goods and weak constitution. The basic pathogenesis of diabetes is dryness-heat due to deficiency of yin. And its main pathogenesis is deficiency of liver-yin and kidney-yin, dryness-heat of lung and stomach is important conditions.What's more, Prof. Cha thinks that based on different syndrome, common syndrome of diabetes mellitus can be divided into seven types: dry-heat syndrome? amp-heat syndrome?Yin Deficiency Syndrome? Qi-Yin deficiency syndrome? spleen deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome? Deficiency of both Qi and Yin syndrome and blood-stasis obstruction syndrome. Treatment from nourishing Yin?the spleen?the stasis. Then abstracts and summarizes the basic prescription of treating diabetes mellitus. In addition, it is advocated individual treatment clinically and addition and subtraction according to different situations. What Prof. Cha suggests has achieved significant effect.Conclusion:Prof. Cha Yuming creates a set of thorough and unique system of treatment based on syndrome differentiation and gets remarkable effect clinically. His experience possesses practical value for guiding clinical, as well as providing new insights for clinical understanding and clinical diagnosis and treatment of diabetes.
