The incidence of stroke is increasing year by year, and it has becoming a serious disease endangering people’s health and life. With the development of medicalimageology, the stroke caused by elongation and extension of basilar artery is concerned. To study the clinical features of patients who had acute brainstem infarction with basilar dolichoectasia (BD), can provide references for its diagnosis and prevent ion. Dialectical treatment is characteristic and advantage of traditional Chinese medicine, but the reports about the relationships between Chinese Medicine Syndromes and morphological changes of blood vessels are rarely at present. Objective:It preliminary discussed the clinical manifestations and radiological findings of acute brainstem infarction with BD, as well as its characteristics of basic syndrome elements. Methods:According to whether had BD or not, divided87patients of acute brainstem infarction into BD group and non-BD group. Collected the general conditions such as age, sex, previous history, the clinical manifestations, the information about blood glucose, total cholesterol, fibrinogen,TCD and radiological data, as well as the TCM syndrome evaluated scores, using SAS8.0software for statistical analysis.Results:1. Analysis of basilar dolichoectasia:The clinical manifestations of patients who had acute brainstem infarction with BD mainly included unilateral limb weakness and dizziness, accounted for72%and56%respectively. The systolic velocity of basilar artery was significantly different in the two groups, it’s slowed down in patients with BD. The fibrinogen was significantly different in two groups, it’s decreased in BD group. There’s no differences in total cholesterol and blood glucose and the location of brainstem infarction in two groups. In BD group, there’s no correlation between the brainstem infarct location and bending direction of basilar artery.2. Analysis of syndrome elements:The frequency distribution and the specific scroes of syndrome elements had no obvious differences between two groups. The main distribution of syndrome elements was phlegm> wind>fire>blood stasis.3. Analysis of combination of syndrome elements:The combinational distribution of syndrome elements had no obvious differences between two groups. It mainly manifested as two-card combinations and three-card combinations.Conclusions:1. The systolic velocity of basilar artery was slowed down in BD group compared with non-BD group. At the same time, the fibrinogen was decreased in the BD group.2. BD didn’t had influence on the frequency distribution of syndrome elements, the element scores, and the combination distribution of syndrome elements.
