A Review Of Research Progress And Evaluation Methods For Urban Public Open Space (POS) Accessibility

The Public open space is recognized as the main site for urban residents to carry out activities,communication and recreation,and regarded as the natural landscape element getting close to the daily life of human.This space is attached with decisive position in promoting residential quality of life.The accessibility is applied to evaluate whether the public open space is reasonably constructed or not,and capable of reflecting the service efficiency and publicity of public open space objectively.Accordingly the accessibility has been attached great importance to in the research of public open space.The concepts,classifications and development conditions of accessibility of public open space are discussed,and progress of domestic and overseas research of accessibility of public open space is concluded.Secondly various influencing factors of accessibility of public open space are summarized,and the connotations of influencing factors of the accessibility of public open space are illustrated from three perspectives,including people’s requirement,attraction of public open space and going-out cost.Additionally,on the basis of classification method of empirical model and mechanism model,various evaluation methodologies applied in research of accessibility of public open space are respectively introduced,and accordingly the principle,advantage,limitation and scope of application of evaluation methodology are specifically introduced and compared.On this basis,integrating the advantages of two methods mentioned above,the comprehensive evaluation method of accessibility of public open space is proposed.Lastly based on the systematical conclusion and collation of the relevant theories and methods,the current research progress of accessibility of public open space is reviewed and analyzed,the vulnerable part of the current research is delved into,and the prospective research orientation being intensely concerned of this field is proposed as to lay a theoretical foundation for the further research of accessibility of public open space.Furthermore,the enlightenment of the research of accessibility towards domestic construction and project of public open space is illustrated as to offer advice and suggestions for constructing more efficient,high quality and sustainably developing urban public open space under the background of intensified and elaborated urban development.
