China is a multiracial country.With its long history,special geographical environment and strong traditions,it has created a number of charming ethnic traditional settlements.Architectures,the soul of traditional ethnic,it’s the core substantial element which plays an essential role in the expression of settlement landscape.Chengyang Eight Stockade,with a number of well-preserved buildings,such as Drum Tower,wind and rain bridges,is the typical Dong Minority village in the minority and one of the earliest developed scenic spot in China.These buildings are indispensable tourist resources and create a dense Dong culture.With the booming urbanization,the building landscape has been destroyed and the traditional building has been taken place by the modern one.In the process of tourism development,residents ’ consciousness of protection,vandalism,one-sided development,and the unconsciousness of the characteristics in traditional settlements landscape genes,resulting in a more and more fierce constructive destruction,during which the traditional settlements fell while the modern ones setting up and that’s when the geographical features blurred.Choosing the case study of Chengyang Eight Stockade,it combines the qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis,analyzing the cause of formation relating to these settlements,digging out the features and cultural connotations of it and then identifies its landscape genes.With the use of the GIS spatial analysis technology,we established a library of gene for landscape architecture and finished the analysis of spatial pattern and the evaluation of value.Based on it,we proposes countermeasures aimed at the activation of Chengyang Eight Stockade in views of the conservation and display of landscape gene,the optimization of its landscape pattern and the development mode of its tourism.
