With the escalation of environmental pollution and the increase of national consumption level, green consumption and ecological philosophy have been concerned by the public, and new standards for the restaurant environment have been proposed by the government. Thus under such a social background, the greenhouse ecological restaurant comes into being. One ecological restaurant consists of the interior landscape and the traditional restaurant. Not only does the ecological restaurant provide a pleasant repast environment for customers, but also it can meet fundamentally the sustainable development principle. The eco-restaurant can realize the recycle of energy and material, the harmonious development between human and environment, and the supply of the green ecological food. Therefore, it will gradually replace the traditional restaurant with high energy consumption, high resource waste, and non-cyclic production mode.This paper first introduces the origin and development of eco-restaurant, including the origin of domestic and international eco-restaurants, the current development trend in China, the existing types and problems. Then from three aspects (social value, economic value and ecological value), the value and meaning of interior landscape for eco-restaurants is analyzed. Three aspects are interdependent, meanwhile they are a unified whole and can't exist independently. And five basic principles for the eco-restaurant design are proposed in this paper. In a concrete eco-restaurant design, many issues should be considered including the siting of eco-restaurant, the material selection, the division of function areas in the spatial layout and the design of traffic lines. And in this paper, the landscape design is also discussed, including the selection and configuration of the plant, the rock design and waterscape design. An analysis on the environment index that consists of the lighting, temperature and humidity has been conducted. A further analysis of the eco-restaurant operating mode is conducted, including the business model that "Restaurant in the front & Garden in the back" and the operation mode of ecological cycle. Finally, combined with professional knowledge, the development trend of eco-restaurant is predicted. Combining the beautiful natural landscape with restaurant, the eco-restaurant provides green and safe food with low energy consumption and low resource usage, and it will be the future trend. However the concept of sustainable development should be considered throughout the whole restaurant design.
