High voltage transmission line is an important part of power system.It is also the high incidence fault area.In order to restore electricity in time,with the helping of the fault location device can find fault location quickly and accurately to ensure the reliable and stable operation of power system.Because of the reliability and precision of traveling wave fault location,most of studies are still staying in theoretical simulation analysis stage.As installation of traveling wave fault location devices,has been recorded enough available measured data for study.Through analysis and research are expected to improve the reliability and accuracy of traveling wave fault location.This paper summaries the theory of traveling wave fault location.Analysis of sampling frequency,wave velocity and asynchronous double ended data effect on the traveling wave fault location data.Comparing with different the first peak of traveling wave detection calibration method to analyze the influence of sampling frequency on the traveling wave fault location accuracy through the EMTDC/PSCAD simulation transmission line model.Otherwise studying the measured data and simulation data found that single ended method of traveling wave's reliability cannot be guaranteed.And the precision is not high enough.Presenting collaborative fault location method based on single ended and double ended fault location uses phase current traveling wave mode instead of phase transformation after the line mode component of traveling wave fault location.Using wavelet transform modulus maxima to calibrate the first peak of traveling wave to insure the accuracy of the calibration on double ended based on the results of the traveling wave fault location.The point of failure surface reflection wave to fuzzy moment and circuit structure is used to determine the fault of reflected wave polarity.And the simulation data is verified with the measured data and analysis.To improve the fault traveling wave distance measuring reliability and accuracy has a certain effect.It is also meaningful and auxiliary for the actual project.
