Shirt is a type of clothes,which can dress between the underwear and overcoat.As well,you can go out just wear a shirt.From an ancient underwear to a formal dress,shirt has its own historical evolution process.With the development of human civilization,more and more people choose shirt as a formal dress.There is always a place in men's wardrobes for shirt.We can see the shirt collar from the suit collar and the neckband of the sweater.Shirt can match all the fashion style,we can wear a dress shirt in all seasons even in all occasions.Shirt has become a popular form of dressing style.The shirt collar is one part of garments' styling and it is in the center of the shirt.Not only does the collar can keep balance between outer garment and overall image,but also it is a very important project for decorative appearance.So,the collar plays an important role in whole style of the clothing.Researchers at home and abroad have made widespread studies on men's shirt,but no deeper and more comprehensive studies have been made on the shirt collar functions of the effective on the overall style.The first chapter of this thesis is the introduction part,I list the background of men's shirt,status,aims and significance of this research topic,and will explain my methodology by which I used to demonstrate the research subject.In the second chapter we will discuss the important roll of the shirt collar by collating the characteristics of shape,assortment and structure,and then discuss the ever-changing style by analysing popularity and evolution of the collar.Finally,the paper will sum up the fashion trend and application design of the shirt collar through studying the type of collar.Fashion trend and function of shirt play a significant role in the evolution of the modern men's shirt fashion,after making a comprehensive analysis about fashion trend of men's shirt and function design of shirt collar,we are able to understand the the evolution phenomenon of men's shirt fashion and the effective of shirt collar functions of on the overall style.So far there are only few researches about the decoration function of shirt collar,and literature of this research is less.We hope this thesis can set a good example and make a few helps to this area.
