Coal Mine Geographical Information System(CMGIS) is a coal mine safety production monitoring and management system which covers computer graphics technology and database technology. As coal mine safety production has widely been paid attention, there is more and more information need to be monitor by CMGIS. But because of the technical limitations, the CMGIS has a poor performance mainly in system response time. Therefore, the performance optimization of CMGIS is significant and important. Three aspects are respectively mine map load, coal layer measuring point edit and measuring point information display were optimized in this paper. And finally the goals of stable system, quick response and good user experience were achieved.Two kinds of tiles generation technique namely Tilecache and Arc Gis Server were compared in this paper based on the analysis of CMGIS performance factors and the literature materials of tiles generation technique. Optimized hierarchy of data processing between program and database was summarized in this paper and the display of the map layer measuring point was fulfilled based on Flex technique and Flex-Viewer application framework.Optimization methods and solutions for map loading, map layer edit and measuring point display were proposed in this paper based on the analysis of main factors which affect the overall system performance.First, the advantage and disadvantage of Tilecache and Arc Gis Server were analyzed in this paper. Finally the map loading of CMGIS was accomplished using Tilecache technique based on Arc Gis Server principle. Thus, the system response time was reduced and user requirement was more satisfied.Second, batch processing was adopted in this paper to reduce the frequency of round trip between CMGIS and database. And the open source Openlayers.js was optimized. Both of them reduced the system response time immensely.Thirdly, the display of the map layer measuring point was fulfilled based on Flex technique and Flex-Viewer application framework. The system can still achieve a good display effect when the number of measuring points reaches 5000.The problem of poor system response was solved based on the analysis of the performance of CMGIS. This paper provides the basis for subsequent CMGIS performance optimization, and meanwhile the idea of optimizing the built in functions in Postgre SQL + Post GIS database was proposed.
