The Mechanism Of Technological Capability Affecting R&D Performance Of Russian Manufacturing Firms

Under the circumstances of fast-changing business environment and technology evolution many enterprises in order to sustain and become innovative start to focus more on Technology Management(TM) and development of Technological capabilities(TC). Innovativeness can be measured with various indicators and one of them is R&D performance. One of the ways to increase R&D performance is to utilize new technologies(NTU). This research seeks to investigate the effect of TC on R&D performance, also the mediating effect of NTU and moderating effect of TM. On the basis of Resource Based View, Dynamic capabilities and many research related to TM and TC I propose that TC is positively related to R&D performance, NTU has a mediating effect on the relationship between TC and R&D performance. TM has a moderating effect on the relationship between TC and R&D performance, TC and NTU, NTU and R&D performance. The proposed theoretical model is a tested survey, data collected from Russian Manufacturing enterprises. The results prove TC positive effect, NTU mediating effect and TM moderating effect. The results of the research hopefully will push Russian managers to focus more on Technology management because of its' positive impact on company performance.
