At present, the automobile market is highly competitive, and the excellent product quality is the foundation of the whole vehicle enterprise. Product quality is related to the fate of the enterprise, so how to improve the quality of each enterprise is to face the problem.As we all know, the quality is designed. Product design is the most important factor affecting the quality of the product. Six sigma Design in Six Sigma quality management tools is an effective method to help achieve the cost reduction and the development cycle of the product quality and reliability.In recent years, the haze weather appeared frequently, to bring great harm to human health. As the main part of the gasoline vehicle exhaust emissions, the performance of the three-way catalytic converter has a great influence on the performance of the vehicle. Therefore, the product quality of the three-way catalytic converter can be improved significantly.X company, as a new company set up a few years, although has successfully developed a number of outstanding models, has been recognized by the market, but there are still many deficiencies in the design capability and development process of the three-way catalytic converter. Part of the technical problems to be research, the development of the traditional model, the validation process to be optimized and other issues are currently facing major problems. In order to solve the present situation, it is needed to use six sigma Design Method to improve the design capability of the three-way catalytic converter, thus improving the product quality of the three-way catalytic converter.In this paper, the structure optimization of three-way catalytic converter is used as the Six Sigma design project to solve the leakage problem. The key factors of IDDOV process, collect customer’s requirement, identify the key factors which affect the sealing performance of three.7 customer requirements are converted into 5 sealing structure design. According to the IDDOV process design of the three-way catalytic converter seal structure, both to achieve the desired performance design requirements, but also to reduce the cost and shorten the development cycle, for the enterprise to bring profits, is worthy of application promotion.
