Six Sigma management theory has been inducted to China over a decade, but the implementation doesn’t work smoothly. And the Design For Six Sigma(DFSS) methodology is even harder for understanding and implementation compared to DMAIC. It’ll be great benefit to improve the DFSS management level through the study of Six Sigma management theory and the practice of DFSS in enterprise.Firstly, the thesis reviewed the Six Sigma management theory systematically, including definition and principle, establishing and developing, implementation model and key tools, also discussed the difference between Six Sigma and other quality management theories.Secondly, with Company T’s product quality improvement activities, it combined the CDOC model(Concept,Design,Optimize,Capability) with problem solving 7 step, creatively utilized the DFSS to current product design improvement. Structure establishing, process planning, and tools introduction for DFSS implementation were also completed in the thesis. The tools, methodology and experience in Company T during Six Sigma introduction were summarized as well.Finally, with the resolving of customer complaint of turbocharge oil leakage, as an example, it described in quite a detail on the application of DFSS in Company T. Following the robust design mentality, using the tools as voice of customer, FTA, System FMEA, Critical Parameter Management and DOE, sorted out the best design. By applying the design and running field test finally, the solution was verified effective and the DFSS methodology validated reliable.
