Non-residents patent application is an important way for international technology transfer. Applicants apply for a patent in other countries leading to cross-border technology. International patent network is emerging as a result of non-resident patent filings. Therefore, this thesis emphasis on three parts(flows of knowledge, the country's total network location and intellectual property protection) to study international patent applications. The thesis provides a descriptive analysis of non-resident patenting filings network, particularly focusing on countries' network position and the diversity geographical, in order to investigate the structure of the whole non-resident patent network and the dynamics and evolution of the non-resident patent network. The results reveal that the United States and Japan is absolute center position in the network. With the expansion of international patent applications, the overall structure of the international patent network is more and more concentrated, at the same time, more and more emerging countries become center of network.Next, from the perspective of empirical analysis, we use 39 countries 5 year panel data to analyze the model(about 1428 countries' relationships).Through empirical model, it points out the following conclusion: the number of patent knowledge inflow and network position has significant positive influence on international patent applications. For intellectual property protection right part, the origin's intellectual property protection has a positive significant influence on the dependent variable, but the destination country's intellectual property protection is no significant impact on the dependent variable.International patent applications take lot of advanced patent technology information and transfer, which lead to the destination country produce technology spillover. Country will use its own network position advantage to improve their innovation ability and gain more external knowledge. In addition, the diversity geographical is very important in the innovation of patent knowledge.
