With the development of automotive industry, automotive products tend to homogenization, how to guarantee the products under development can meet the needs of consumers? Applying QFD into every stages if vehicle development project, using the methods of customer interview, voice of customer to summarize the customer needs, rank and prioritize the these needs by AHP. Using 2nd deployment gets sub-systems needs and prioritizations. Let potential customers conduct the objective judgment on the best-sellers vehicles performance on certain needs and record the values as reference for vehicle needs target set-up. The sub-systems developments can't be independently considered, it should be considered on the entire vehicle to serve and working together with surrounding systems for the vehicle performance. List the needs of other systems for this certain system and put them as input together with the customers' needs as needs input to build up the HOQ(house of quality). Write the specification to reflecting the certain sub-system entire needs according to competitors' performances and customer satisfactions of sub-systems and requirements driven by the others sub-systems.In order to guarantee the development work quality and accomplished on time, the most effective methods is using WBS(work breakdown structure) to define the work package on the WBS related work, arrange the related resources to guarantee the quality of work package, the quality criteria and responsible peoples must be defined clearly. The quality of work package are also needed reviewed when project team doing the vehicle and sub-system development project phase gate review. The vehicle sub-system development project involves cross-function team and even cross-parties team, using RASIC to manage and restrict all team-members. Using the methods as technical specification and FEMA to ensure the product development and production quality. In the real case of Q company compact platform steering system development project, applying all above methods manage the development project and the result is very well.
