At present, the traditionally large quantities manufacturing mode for electronic products has been unable to met to the increasingly consumption demands, which is diversified and personalized. And the replacement fast, small batch and diversified production patterns become the inevitable trend of the development of the electronic product manufacturing industry.In order to respond to the diversified, quickly update challenge better, it is necessary to take some advanced measures to improve the traditional mode of production process for improving the development efficiency, reducing the cost of the products, and enhancing the competitive force ultimately. In practice, it is an effective way to achieve the goal of lean production by work study, especially through the single minute exchange of die(SMED). Therefore, it has the important practical engineering value o study the applications of work study and SMED to guide and improve the production efficiency and the production market competitiveness.The paper summarized the basic theory of work study and SMED, and introduced the time-dependent dynamic factor in the work study and the outside/inside time for SMED in detail. And then used the method of the work study and SMED to develop and imply a number of lean production plan combined with the actual production.The paper studied the production application cases of SMED, including modified the die design to change the structure of the die based the man-machine operation diagram. By changing the mode of fixed die to produce machine, it has greatly reduced the labor intensity of workers and the time of changing die, and it raised the production efficiency of the manufacture significantly.It is shown that it can be effectively improve the original working conditions, improve the production efficiency, and reduce the product development cycle by analyzing the dynamic factors of the work study and with the method of SMED.
