China is a developing country where e-commerce starts relatively late. However, the e-commerce has become a significant part of national economic development from the " Internet Plus " perspective. Its development is not only an innovation in exploring the Internet but also a mainstream of business. E-commerce firms are the carriers of the e-commerce, while the performance or underperformance of these enterprises directly affects the quality of the e-commerce development. Therefore, research on the performance measurement of e-commerce firms has its theoretical and practical implication to accelerate the effectiveness and stability of e-commerce.The paper is structured as follows. The first section describes the major research results and theoretical analyses from domestic and foreign literature, which are taken as a foundation of this paper. There is then a section to justifying the models of e-commerce based on theories, discussing the performance measurement and presenting the implications, classifications and factors of e-commerce models. Indicator system associated with performance measurement of e-commerce firms will be built in the section three. The methodology of the paper and the comparison between measures of firm performance will also be depicted in this section, and the final section summarizes empirical analysis of performance in the 25 sample e-commerce listed companies through the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and linear function model. The paper concludes that sample e-commerce listed firms show a performance gap among them, whether PCA or linear function model was used. It means that the difference between the performances of e-commerce enterprises is apparent. Besides, the score of performance in e-commerce companies can be influenced by the geographic factors, which means that firms'performance in the big cities is higher than the rest of cities. Finally, the measures of profitability account for a large proportion of the performance measurement compared with other three aspects for assessing performance. However, the firm what were analyzed in this paper shows an insufficient profitability. The innovation of this paper lies in:First, the paper is base on the concept of the e-commerce model to construct the indicator system appropriate for the performance measurement of e-commerce firms. Second, using both the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and linear function model to analyze these companies is a relatively innovative approach.
