The rail container terminals are proposed by railway administration in the Guidelines of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan.The objectives are to accommodate the development of the transportation of railway containers,to preferably promote the growth of economy,to fulfill the demand of the railway container transportation,and to improve the efficiency of the logistics.Our railway container transportation is now under rapid development.Terminals in main cities which are the economic centers and the major transport hubs are especially served for railway container transportation providing all supporting and related service.It has played a role to the promotion of railway container transportation.Completed terminals are in Kunming,Shanghai,Chongqing,Zhengzhou,Chengdu,Dalian,Qingdao,Wuhan and Xi'an.It has initially formed the network for container transportation.In the face of fierce competition in market and increasing demand,the main problems are how to make full use of functions of the terminals and how to construct the new terminals.This thesis object is railway container terminals in Chongqing.Background and significance are described first.The organization of the thesis is based on the classification and induction of literature at home and abroad.Status quo of terminal in Chongqing is discussed from the following aspects: overview,products and service,clients,main trains,financial status and so on.After analyzing the source of its goods,the thesis made a demand forecast.Then the evaluation of efficiency is conducted using Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA).Demand determines development,and efficiency determines the speed.At last,the thesis gives a comprehensive summary of the terminal and proposed proper strategic suggestions.
