Empirical Study On Developing Construction Supply Chain Management Framework In China–Using Main Contractor As The Focal Company

With the rapid development of construction industry, obviousproblems, such as huge resource, complex interface, and increasing aspects of the relevant people and factors, account for the necessity for the project management process standardizationin the construction phase, formulating the construction project supply chain network diagram and standard operating procedures.In doing so the project management personnel canfollow some evidence and the service quality of project management maintain high. Moreover, supply chain management, which is based on the manufacturing industry, is gradually applied to the management of construction enterprises. Unfortunately, because of its application is still in its infancy, the application is impeded by the snall size of enterprises, the lack of information, and the short of an understanding of the supply chain, leading to the extent of the use is not ideal.The aim of this dissertation is to propose a construction supply chain management architecture based on the theories related to supply chain management. Specifically, from a macro systematic point of view, this research design a set of the supply chain network diagram and standard operating procedures in the condition thatthe prime contractor as the center. It will realize the primary application of supply chain in construction management. Firstly, we define the concept of supply chain and make comparison of the concepts based on the previous researches. and thus achieve the construction supply chain in the industry in the initial application. Meanwhile, we discussed foreign literatures about the application of supply chain from the perspective of the theory and management practice.And then through the detailed description of the construction industry and construction characteristics, we put forward anintegration architectureof supply chain management in whole construction project life cycle. Then, we designs construction supply chain network structure systematically, and propose the integrated index of the construction supply chain management on the basis of related literatures. Finally, the data was from two case study analysis, which is analyzed to confirm the integration level of construction supply chain management development in our country. We further analyzed the feasibility of the application of supply chain management theory and methods into the construction industry.Relevant suggestions were developed for the future development of chain management in construction industry.This dissertation has a great significance for providingdecision makers with decision support system and the improvement of operational performance for itdiscussed and analyzed the application of the supply chain of the construction industry, and designed the frame for the use of the supply chain.
