With the rapid development of aviation and aerospace technologies,the combined performance of modern aircrafts won dramatic improvmenets on high-speed,high-manuver and low backsactterrring due to stealty design.The target characteristics change like weak,high-speed and high-manuver causes a serious challenge for modern radar.Therefore,the weak and maneuvering target tracking is a key subject in radar information processing field,which has important academic research values and wide application prospects.First,the current research status of maneuvering target tracking is introduced in this paper.Then a comprehensive discussion is presented about the two crucial kernels of maneuvering target tracking,i.e.,the high-order motion models and the data filters.Second,the theory of adaptive tracking filtering techniques is discussed.In accordance with classical Kalman filter algorithm,several improved adaptive Kalman filter algorithm are studied based on different models from the view of filtering gain correction in this paper.Third,from the perspective of model modification,this paper proposes an improved method based on polynomial fitting filtering algorithm.Besides,the performance and application conditions of the aforementioned different algorithms mentioned are given on the tracking error,filtering smoothness and other aspects via numerical simulations.The results of simulations and real measure data show that the above tracking algorithms all have low computation complexity and good performance.Subsequantly,based on the proposed maneuvering target tracking algorithm with low complexity,this paper proposed a track-before-detect(TBD)method for weak maneuvering target.The proposed algorithm combines low threshold pre-detection and maneuvering target tracking technique together and it applies the signal processing and data processing jointly,which has low computation and is easy for implementing.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by some real measured data.It is shown that the proposed algorithm has a good detection and tracking ability for weak and maneuvering targets and it can meet the application requirements of real-time processing system.
