Virtual reality(VR)technology is growing up and many new ideas emerged in this field,with the blowout development in the first year of VR.In the anxious expectation of a new form of automobile display,virtual automobile display products leave a new impression on us and add more fun to the acquisition of automobile information,which is welcomed by broad customers.Nevertheless,existing products are either costly or lack of immersion,any of which is hard to take place of traditional automobile display.In this paper,gaze interaction technology is first proposed,based on which a new virtual automobile display product is developed to meet the needs of customers and improve the defect of existing virtual automobile display products,main work are as follows:First of all,the module structure of the system is designed,including gaze interaction module,scene module,UI module,models switching module,car paints replacement module,hubs switching module,and viewports switching module,according to customers' demand of virtual automobile display products.In view of development cost and the existing problems of current products,3DS MAX is selected as modeling tool of automobiles and virtual scenes,Unity 3D as development engine,Cardboard VR glasses combined with Android smartphone as display equipments,after a comparative analysis.In the process of trying to find a new interaction technology to interact with the virtual scene,Unity event system is deeply studied and event triggering mechanism in Unity is illustrated in detail for the first time.Then,gaze interaction technology is developed creatively based on Unity event system,its mechanism,implementation process and experience optimization are elaborated.To ensure a better experience,several modeling methods are discussed before the modeling of automobiles and scenes,after that,part of complex model materials are baked.Finally,other functional modules are developed and integration of the system is finished,subsequently,software test is carried out with a professional testing platform.To experience this virtual automobile display system based on gaze interaction,users only need to run the software in Android smartphone and put the phone in VR glasses,any other equipment or additional operation is not necessary.Not only is this kind of virtual automobile display product cost-effective,but also novel and extremely immersive,which would be a valuable reference to the development of virtual automobile display products and have a significant learning value for the exploration of virtual reality interactive technology.
