Semi-smart antenna technology is put forward by Antenna and EM Propagation Lab of QMUL(Queen Mary University of London).It by changing the shape of the antenna beam,achieved a 20%increase in user capacity,simplify the antenna structure and reduce the cost of base station at the same time,so that a simple and efficient antenna base station solution is established.Semi-smart antenna is put forward to improve the traditional smart antenna technology large volume,high cost,high computing power requirements,etc.In this paper,according to the characteristics of the Semi-smart antenna based on the dielectric resonance antenna(DRA)under the required of the IEEE 802.11 ac Reconfigurable Antenna and Title DRA were studied.Paper first for the demand of Semi-smart antenna,based on the characteristics of the DRA,s broadband,high gain,low cost and the radiation mode diversification,designed a radiation pattern reconfigurable DRA.The antenna consists of two groups of 3dB hybrid coupler with 1/4 ? to feed the Air-gap DRA.By changing the feed port we can get a cardioid radiation pattern or a boresight radiation pattern on horizontal and vertical polarization direction.It is the first known dielectric resonator antenna to be reconfigurable tow patterns in two polarization directions simultaneously.Then change the circuit of the bottom,using the quasi-lumped quadrature coupler(QLQC)to feed the Air-gap DRA can achieve that work mode transform between the left-handed circular polarization(LHCP),right-handed circular polarization(RHCP),x direction linear polarization(x-LP)and y direction linear polarization,which make the antenna to achieve the function of the full polarization reconfigurable.The second part of the paper the title dielectric resonance antenna(TDRA)were studied.Using the characteristic that the work pattern of rectangular DRA have no obvious change after remove a small part of the volume,we cut into wedge shaped form at the bottom of the rectangular DRA.After making the rectangular slant 15°,30°,45°,Observe the relationship between radiation beam and angle of tilted.The last part of the paper presents an algorithm that the neural network recognize radiation patterns to simplify the beamforming technology,and the algorithm combined with TDRA array which presented in this paper to explain the application in the Semi-smart antenna communication system.The above studies are based on the 5th generation of wireless local area network(WLAN)communication standard IEEE 802.11 ac,the working frequency of antenna design is in 5-6 GHz,suitable for WLAN access points(APs)device.
