Tactical wireless communication network is the application and expansion of MANET in the military field.With the construction and development of the modern army,the key technologies of tactical wireless communication network have gradually become a hot topic in the military research of all countries.MAC protocol is the key to the tactical wireless communications network,whose quality directly affects the performance of the entire system.Therefore,in-depth study of the access control technology in tactical wireless communication network is of great significance for our army to build modern tactical communication system and enhance our military strength.This paper mainly studies the MAC protocol of the tactical wireless communication network and designs a clustered time division multiple address protocol(C-TDMA)which is suitable for large-scale tactical wireless communication network based on the unifying slot assignment protocol(USAP),in order to meet its scalability requirements.The main research work includes the following aspects:Firstly,the characteristics of the traditional tactical wireless communication network MAC protocol are introduced.The frame structure of USAP is mainly studied,and the design requirements of MAC protocol for tactical wireless communication network are analyzed.Secondly,according to the development direction of the current tactical wireless communication network,the C-TDMA protocol is designed by combining the cluster networking technology on the basis of the USAP.The design of the C-TDMA protocol mainly includes the frame structure design and the packet format design.Then,by studying the current existing clustering algorithm and combining with the characteristics of C-TDMA channel access,a clustering strategy based on frequency-division is proposed,and the cluster head election algorithm and gateway election algorithm are implemented in the clustering structure.Next,the neighbor discovery algorithm and the time slot assignment algorithm of the USAP are improved,and the improved algorithm is applied to the C-TDMA protocol to advance network convergence speed and channel utilization rate.Finally,the C-TDMA protocol is modeled and simulated by OPNET Modeler software and compared with the USAP under different scenarios.The simulation results show that the newly designed C-TDMA protocol can not only support intra-cluster and inter-cluster communication,but also has a better performance when compared with the USAP,especially in the large-scale tactical wireless communication network,whose performance is obviously superior to the USAP.
