The Research On Vertical Handover Authentication In 3G-WLAN-WiMAX Heterogeneous Network

With the development of computer and communication technology,the mobile communication technology,which is represented by the third generation(3G)communication mobile technology,wireless local area network(WLAN)and global microwave interconnection access(Wi MAX),has been formed.However,any single network can not independently meet all the needs of mobile communication services,mobile terminals in a variety of network handover is inevitable.In the handover process,the authentication is very time-consuming and consumes more authentication traffic.A secure solution must be found to improve the authentication efficiency and reduce the load of the heterogeneous network traffic.In view of the above problems,this paper proposes a handover authentication mechanism based on 3G-WLAN-WiMAX heterogeneous network.Firstly,the 3G-WLAN-WiMAX handover scenario is analyzed,and different proxy authentication servers are used to replace the local home network for mutually authenticating.Secondly,by adding the level counter and the hierarchical key in the authentication and re-authentication protocols,the proposed mechanism can trigger different authentication protocols when the counter reaches the threshold or when the key fails,and it uses HLPSL to formally describe the improved protocol and the required security attributes.Finally,the AVISPA model is used to detect The tool verifies the security attributes of the modified protocol,and the result shows that the improved protocol satisfies mutual authentication,forward and backward privacy.In addition,by comparing the proposed mechanism with the traditional handover authentication protocol in different handover conditions,it proves that the proposed mechanism can improve handover authentication efficiency to a certain extent.In this paper,the vertical handover authentication mechanism improves the authentication efficiency under the premise of guaranteeing the mobile terminal handover authentication security.It can reduce the load of the heterogeneous network traffic in the heterogeneous network and guarantee the mobile terminal authentication security and seamless handover.
