The fifth generation communication system(5G),which will be capable of ultra high-speed data transmission,super-wide bandwidth,very low time delay,and extremely high system capacity as well as multi-band compatibility,is being researched by universities and enterprises around the world after the successful commercial application of the fourth generation communication technology(4G).In this paper,researches on multi-band and miniaturization of monopole and PIFA antennas as well as ultra-wide band of microstrip antennas are emphasized according to the characteristics and tendency of 5G technology.Three antennas are proposed respectively as follows:At the beginning,a kind of miniature monopole antenna with novel folded strips and additional small-size substrate attaching to the main system substrate is proposed for GSM,UMTS,LTE,and WiMAX.The antenna has the ability of covering 780MHz-1010 MHz and1630MHz-3900 MHz,which is much better than most similar antennas,especially in the higher band with more than 100% promotion.Then a PIFA antenna,with the qualities of miniaturization and multi-band,is devised for mobile terminals in the future application of 5G because of its operation bandwidth(680MHz-980 MHz and 1665MHz-2755MHz)and competitive small size of radiation patch(33mm? 9mm?0.8mm).The above-mentioned antennas both are of multi-frequency band,small size,simple structure and low cost,providing support for the forward compatibility of 5G communication technology.Finally,an ultra-wide band planar microstrip antenna with an innovative inverted E-shaped slot is designed for the small cell of 5G mobile communications.An innovative microstrip-line feeding structure is adopted by which not only can the designs of antennas be simplified but also the radiation performance can be improved.The operation bandwidth of the proposed antenna covers the frequency band ranging from 27.6GHz to 33.2 GHz with VSWR ?1.5 which is in accordance with the standards of 5G communications presented by several companies and institutions.In addition,the proposed antenna has a wide HPBW and a small backward radiation and meanwhile can obtain stabilized radiation patterns and inputimpedance as well as high gains in the whole working bandwidth.Also,the proposed antenna has numerous advantages such as low cost,small size,easier integration and ability of large-scale array.This design provides reference for future researchers and designers..
