In recent years, with the deepening of marine research,eXpendable Current Profiler has been widely used in marine scientific surveys and commercial development. As an important part of eXpendable Current Profiler instrument, the electrode probe's performance evaluation is directly related to the accuracy of the final signal acquisition. However,in contrast to land-based detection technology, seawater's natural high-conductivity shielding plays a significant role in signal attenuation, thereby, making the useful signal extremely weak.In order to make the signal-to-noise ratio(50nVRMS)of signal observation and measurement meet the requirement of eXpendable Current Profiler's measurement,an electrode device with high accuracy, good stability, and low noise needs to be developed. In order to develop an electrode device based on electroplating preparation technology for eXpendable Current Profiler, the work analyzes the electrochemical principle of Ag/AgCl electrode.Based on the practical requirements of eXpendable Current Profiler in the work, the orthogonal experimental design and mathematical statistical analysis methods have been used to analyze the parameters of the charging current density, electrolytic chlorination time, and electrolyte concentration which are highly controversial in the current phase of electrolytic chlorination scheme to obtain the optimal conditions for electrolytic chlorination of Ag/AgCl suitable for the eXpendable Current Profiler through multiple experiments and analysis. In order to reduce the influence of extreme environments such as ocean high pressure on the electrodes,a protection scheme for electrolytically chlorinated Ag/AgCl electrode cores has been proposed. This graduation design carries out the packaging of the Ag/AgCl electrode which has been obtained through the electrolytic chlorination process by using a microporous tube,an ABS protective cover, and an internal filling with a chemically inert material(AgCl powder is used herein). In the simulation environment test, the assembled electrodes have been tested for the stability of voltage difference, sensitivity,DC electric field test and alternating electric field test.Through the analysis and discussion of the test results, the Ag/AgCl electrode device prepared by this graduation design scheme can meet the required indicators of the eXpendable Current Profiler.Through multiple simulation tests inside the indoor tank and data acquisition,it is found that the electrode range of the marine electric field sensor prepared by this graduation design scheme is stable, achieving the better signal resolution at 15 Hz than that of 50 nV.Our XCP marine electric field sensor can meet the need of measuring submarine electric fields and improve the electrode performance under the existing preparation process at the same time, thereby, verifying the stability and reliability of the electrode device.
