By the end of 2013,the domestic TD-LTE licenses issued,marking the 4G went up,wireless communications ushered in a new stage of developments.A variety of wireless terminal devices have appeared.The huge advantage of data card in the 3G will continue to play in the 4G.Manufacturers accelerate software development to dominate the market,so software versions interaction faster and faster.To enable users to experience the new features as soon as possible,manufactures need to upgrade old firmware versions.This article is based on MTK platform data card using FOTA upgrade the firmware version in Windows 8.This article is based on OMA DM-FOTA technology,research and implement a wireless data card firmware upgrade.First of all,introduced the FOTA technology application in the global scope,compared FOTA update with traditional one-click upgrade and summed the advantages of FOTA upgrade.Describes how to use the tools to create update packages provided by Red Bend and elaborate the configuration file of upgrade tool in the form of XML.Using this method can generate the smallest update package,and the size of package may only be 10%of the original version.In this way,it only takes up little storage space to store the upgrade package,and can be effective to switch the new version and the old version.This article mainly introduced based on OMA DM protocol to manage data card.Complete the update packages download process based on OMA DL specifications.Use Windows 8 Metro UI system as an upgrade client and HTTP protocol to complete client-server interaction in upgrade work.Design a way to handle power failure when update is ongoing by setting a flag of paper during upgrade.When restart after power failure,the data card detects the flag and analyzes the interruption,and then continue the upgrading.In this paperusing way of switching driver modes in FOTA processes to solve that the data card can not directly download the upgrade package.Switch the data card into RNDIS mode to download the upgrade package.And design a new upgrade flow.In this way we can upgrade a data card with FOTA technology in Windows 8.Through the introduction of several key technologies,as well as related modules designed to achieve a data card FOTA upgrade in Windows 8.Finally,in commercial network,tests showed that the upgrade went smoothly,the system was functioning properly,using this kind of upgrade technology could complete firmware update in Windows 8 system successfully.
