Research On The Development Strategy Of Community Library To Improve Residents' Social Capital

Since the eighteenth congress,the construction of a harmonious society has become an important task in deepening the reform period.However,in recent years,the neighbors which based on the common area,sharing the same life circle lack the network of relationship.As a basic education center,information center and cultural center,community library should consciously play social service function,fully realize its social responsibility,insight into the community needs,provide deep-level readers'service,and play its unique role in the promotion of residents' social capital.This study uses the questionnaire survey method,interview method to investigate the social capital status of the residents in the local branch of the Fujian Provincial Library,and to explore the linkage between the community library and the social capital of the residents.Through investigating,the writer concludes the results to the three points.Firstly,the residents neighborhood exchanges are not frequent,the degree of mutual trust is general,community awareness is not high,the overall level of individual social capital is low.Secondly,the use of community library is closely related to the social network,the reciprocal behavior and the social participation.Thirdly,Community library is a place for residents widening social relation network,building a bridge of mutual trust,developing the social participation.At last,according to the research results,the writer propose the strategy of community library construction to promote the development of residents' social capital:(1)to increase the rationality of the space distribution,position the basic unit of the community;(2)to provide public services,promote social universal trust;(3)to expand the function of education,cultivate residents' human capital;(4)to build information center,enhance the residents' standardized social capital;(5)to attach great importance to the cultural participation,improve residents' relational social capital;(6)to spread the grassroots politics,improve residents' political social capital.
