Polarization detection has unique advantages in terms of target detection and recognition compared to traditional optical detection techniques.In this paper,an image reconstruction method based on the polarization information of the target and the scattered light of background in order to remove fog effect from images.Through extracting the polarization information of the target and the background,according to the transmission characteristics of the light in the scattering medium.We estimated some parameters of light and reconstructed the defog images.The results showed that the method has a significant promotion in the image quality of haze and underwater under strong scattering environment and had good application prospect.The main work of this paper are as follows:(1)According to Fresnel's law,the transmission of reflected and refracted light are studied,and the polarization characteristics of the reflected light are analyzed.We used the Monte Carlo method to simulate the scattering of light in the medium therefore to analyze the polarization characteristics of the scattered light.The polarization characteristics of the scattered light are analyzed.(2)An image reconstruction method using the polarization information of the target and the scattered light of background is proposed.Considering the polarization characteristics of the target and the background,using the minimum operator and the polarization filtering method to estimate the polarization information of the background scattered light.Using the bright channel priori rule to estimate the background scattered light intensity at infinity.The target image is reconstructed by combining the polarization information of the target.(3)The polarized detection experiments under the environment of haze and underwater are carried out,and the actual effect of polarization detection in different scattering environments' are analyzed.We designed a polarized optical simulation experiment chamber to simulate the atmospheric environment for the experiment and quantitative analysis.The results showed that the method has a significant improvement in image quality under haze and underwater.
