High Frequency Surface Wave Radar(HFSWR) with outstanding advantages such as reliable system, wide detection area, anti-stealth capability, has a huge application value in the military and civil. However, HFSWR suffers from ionosphere clutter, sea clutter, radio interference and other form of interference, causing great difficulties for target detection. Based on such a situation, this article will do some research on target detection in HF radar of complex clutter wave. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1.Modeling of high frequency ground wave radar clutter. Study the statistical properties of the background clutter about the HFSWR, and fit the measured radar data in with the statistical model. Then we estimate the parameters of different statistical model and analyzes the effect of statistical model. Based on the above work, we find that the lognormal distribution has the best fitting effect.2.The chapter 3 studies the CFAR method in HFSWR. The performance of the constant false alarm detector in Rayleigh distribution clutter is analyzed, and the log-t detector is proposed based on the works of chapter 2. The article analyzed the impact of the number of different reference cells on detection performance through theoretical. The detection performance of different false alarm probability is also studied. The double threshold detection strategy was proposed according to the specific characteristics of high frequency ground wave radar. The simulation target is added to the measured data and the analysis is carried out. The simulation results confirm the correctness of the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the feasibility of the algorithm in the practical engineering. At last, according to the expansion of target in the speed range spectrum of HF radar, a two dimensional detection algorithm based on target is proposed, and the validity of the method is also analyzed.3.In chapter 4 application of polarization detection method in high frequency ground wave radar is studied. Based on the statistics on the polarization characteristics of high frequency surface wave radar, we found that the HF sea clutter wave have common characteristics with target both in amplitude distribution, and polarization angle distribution. However, there is a difference in ionosphere clutter and the target on the polarization angle, which provides the necessary theoretical basis for the polarization detection. This paper introduces some classical polarization detector, and make some improvements on Span Detector. SD-PA detection algorithm is proposed on the basis of HFSWR polarization characteristics. Theoretical analysis and simulation show that HFSWR target detection performance has been significantly improved with the application polarimetric information.4.Combined detection method in the high-frequency radar was studied. The feasibility for joint detection was demonstrated through the polarization angle energy spectrum. Cascade test methods and collaborative detection methods have been proposed, based on the CFAR technique and polarization detection technology. Through the analysis of the performance of different algorithms adding simulated target. The result show that the collaborative detection algorithm is an efficient algorithm and can be achieved in engineering.5.TBD Detection Technology been studied in HFSWR. Based on the basic principle of detection techniques TBD, the new TBD detection algorithm combined polarization information was proposed, according to the characteristics of high frequency surface wave radar.
