This paper is focused on microstructure optical fiber based liquid crystal sensor devices using in optical fiber devices and optical fiber sensing.Liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber provides a platform for the production of simple optical tunable device and it can be easily integrated with optical fiber and sensor systems.Because of liquid crystal materials with dielectric anisotropy that microstructure optical fiber can be used in simple electrically tunable optical fiber devices.The electric tunability of liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber can be used in optic fiber tunable devices has a variety of applications in optical system.The study that the transmission of liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber sensor in visible light band proves the ability of simple optical electric field sensor.In the study of nematic liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber modulator that transmission can be significantly affected by the applied electric field and the device also shows good response.Liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber can be influenced by different parameters of the electric field sensor,including the molecular structure of liquid crystal materials,temperature and frequency of electric field.The studies of different liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber in electric field sensor proves that different liquid crystal type sensor can obtain good linear transmission response under the voltage.Little influence of temperature on the electric field sensor of liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber,the transmission of liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber can be subjected to electric field in a wide range of temperature,and different temperature on the electric field modulation almost no change at room temperature.The range of frequency from 50 Hz to 1 kHz,the frequency of the applied electric field was studied in the transmission characteristics of liquid crystal integrated microstructure optical fiber.Nematic liquid integrated microstructure fiber has developed a new type of optical fiber electric field sensing technology.This simple optical fiber sensor can accurate detection signal,electric field intensity.
