With the rapid development of science and technology,the mobile communication equipment is becoming more and more intelligent,miniaturization,and compatible with a variety of communication frequency bands.Because of its small volume,low profile and easy integration,microstrip antenna has great advantages in antenna design,which makes it become one of the hot topics in antenna design.This paper mainly discusses the theory and common techniques of microstrip antenna miniaturization and multi-band,and on this basis,designs three multi-band microstrip antennas based on different communication protocols.Firstly,This paper presents a 7-shaped monopole microstrip antenna,which is suitable for WLAN/WiMAX communication system.its radiating element mainly consists of a rectangular patch with open T-shaped slot and a trapezoidal patch.The antenna has the advantages of simple structure,relatively small volume and easy integration.The simulation and measured results show that the proposed antenna can entirely cover the WLAN standards of the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n in the 2.4GHz(2400-2484MHz),5.2GHz(5150-5350MHz),5.8GHz(5725-5825M Hz)and the WiMAX(3.5/5.5GHz)communication bands,its radiation patterns are nearly omni-directional.In addition,in order to design an antenna which also can working in GPS frequency bands,An ACS-fed F-shaped monopole antenna for GPS/WLAN/WiMAX communication system proposed.This design has an overall size of only40×20×1.6mm3 meet the trend of miniaturization of the antenna.From the simulation and measured results we can conclude that the antenna can operate at 1.575GHz GPS,WLAN(2.4/5.2/5.8GHz)and WiMAX(2.5/3.5/5.5GHz)working bands and also has good radiation characteristics.Secondly,this paper presents a six-band mobile antenna used in 4G mobile terminals,The radiating element of the antenna mainly comprises a trumpet-shaped monopole antenna and a bent parasitic short-circuit metal wire,and through parasitic coupling technology this antenna can cover other operating band what we need.Simulation results show that the antenna can fully meet the requirements of China Mobile 4G TD-LTE(1880-1900MHz 2320-2370 MHz 2575-2635 MHz),GSM900,DCS1800 and PCS 1900 six communication bands.
