Abstract/Summary:
Up to now,the number of spouses of Taiwanese with Chinese nationality has reached 300,000.As a matter of fact, those spouses have to overcome numerous hurdles to settle in Taiwan, namely, the immigration interviews, unscheduled inspections by"(Taiwan)National Immigration Agency" and "(Taiwan)Garrison Command",permission to work, and Taiwan identity.Upon their entry into Taiwan, they are confronted with intricate issues.Specifically, they should rise up to the challenges of negative media opinions, limitation on degree attestation, interdict of public service works, and compulsory training courses for novice immigrants.By virtue of the excessively complicated authority hierarchy, the subject of "spouses of Taiwanese with Chinese nationality" emerges in constant collisions. This thesis,on the basis of daily lives, discusses the attributes of the special group shaped by the authority hierarchy, the interactions between them in different circumstances, and the possible deconstructive and constructive effect of individual decisions on the subject.Taking advantage of purposive sampling and snowballing, the author interviews 15 spouses with Chinese nationality(gender, education background, causes of marriage, and dwell time),incorporating the mass media news into the literature review on the subject of social authorities.According to the divisions of labors and genders, the social authorities identify those spouses as the trouble makers, helpless victims, and vassals of a family.Despite of the domination of authority hierarchy, the spouses with Chinese nationality,by virtue of individual initiatives, turn on a new look rather than the traditional yielders, protesters,or avoiders or escapers(neutrals).
