Because the amplitude of the dim target is small,it is difficult to distinguish it from the clutter background(especially the sea clutter background). At the same time, with the improvement of the resolution of the modern radar, the target changes to the extended target.traditional method is difficult to use on extended target,so there is the urgent need for the dim extended target detection method under the sea clutter environment to study.Based on the background of practical engineering, this paper studies, improves and realizes the TBD method of dim extended targets detection in sea clutter environment.Firstly, the formation mechanism and characteristics of sea clutter are analyzed. This paper introduces Amplitude model, extended ellipse model and observation model, and analyzes the causes of the target expansion.Dynamic programming algorithm(DP-TBD)and particle filter algorithm(PF-TBD)are studied. The problems faced by DP-TBD algorithm in practical engineering are analyzed, and the SIS algorithm of particle filter is analyzed in detail. And this paper studies SIR algorithm and a regularized particle filter algorithm for dealing with particle degradation problems.Aiming at how to set the appropriate threshold for PF-TBD to improve the detection performance,a method of preprocessing with adaptive threshold is proposed, which proves the effectiveness of the preprocessing method. The radar echo of the extended target in different intensity sea clutter environment is simulated by using the measured data and the extended target ellipse model. The PF-TBD algorithm is used to track the dim extended target in sea clutter. Finally, the PF-TBD method of dim extended target in sea clutter is realized under the Power PC platform.
