It is inevitable that clutter echo signal existed in the Radar received signal. As well known, the performance of the Radar target detection is severely degraded by the strong clutter echoes. Therefore, suppressing the clutter echoes is an important task in Radar signal processing. The spectral center of the weather clutter is not at the zero frequency. The characteristic of the clutter echoes varies with the weather, environment, etc. Adaptive clutter suppression algorithms have been proposed in order to suppress the weather clutter. In these algorithms the statistic characteristics of clutter echoes are estimated and the parameters of filter are ajusted to obtain a better filtering result. The adaptive clutter suppression algorithms are studied in this paper. Combined with the practical application, both of the designing methods of the adaptive Doppler filter and spectral estimation are discussed in detail. For the lower frequency band, two-notch-filter is applied. For the higher frequency, single-notch-filter is applied. The performance of the filter which varies with the clutter power, bandwidth and frequency center is studied. Furthermore, several spectra estimation methods are simulated and the performances are compared. In addition, the constant false alarm ratio technique is introduced.
