Radar and communication system have many similarities in hardware structure and system theory.The combination between radar system and communication system can reduce the cost of both hardware resource and software resource.The radar communication integration conforms the development of modern science and technology.It is also the trend of integrated electronic information system in the future.Software defined radio(SDR)can improve the interoperability among different systems.It will be of great significance these two technology can be combined together.Universal software radio peripheral(USRP)is one of the most useful hardware platforms used for researches on software radio system.This paper gives researches on the integration technology of radar and communication system,which is based on this hardware platform.In this paper,the working mechanism of USRP experimental platform is researched at first.The feasibility of the integrated experimental platform is verified through analysis of the hardware resources,system configuration,control methods,radio frequency circuit,VITA-49 protocol and some other respects.Secondly,through the research of key technologies in radar communication integration and the actual experimental conditions,the design scheme of intergrated system with time-division method is confirmed.Finally,the integration system is designed and verified through USRP and GNU Radio.The design can be divided into three parts,namely,timing control module,communication function module and radar function module.The host computer implements the timing control of the receiving thread and sending thread by software controlling.The feasibility of communication function is verified by setting flow graph in GNU Radio.The feasibility of radar function is verified through the acquisition of the time information in receiving thread and sending thread.The final experimental results show that the designed integration system of radar and communication has the function of radar ranging.What's more,this integration system can meet the basic requirements of communication in the actual test environment.
