Mobile cloud computing(MCC)is a new technology that combines mobile internet with cloud computing. One of the most important application of MCC is mobile data offloading.By means of data offloading, mobile terminals(MTs)can offload computation intensive tasks to clouds to support complex service while conserving energy in wireless networks. This technique enables MTs to support heavy data traffic by offloading computation-intensive tasks to the cloud. However, due to the long transmission up-link,data offloading may lead to unnecessary energy usage in MTs.Based on traditional data offloading technology,a collaborative data offloading framework joint with channel selection for MTs is proposed to solve this problem,in which MTs in the same channel can first form a coalition and then execute data offloading in a cooperative way.Game theory is adopted to model the problem as a non-cooperative game. Then, the channel selection game is proved to be a potential game and exists Nash equilibrium.A Markov approximation approach is applied to design a distributed channel selection algorithm for the game so that each MT can self-organize into stability without information exchange across the whole network.Theoretical and numerical results show that the algorithm is feasible, stable and efficient in comparison to traditional centralized optimization solutions.
