With the improvement of motion capture technologies,obtaining high frame rate and high resolution mesh sequences is becoming simpler.Such a large high quality mesh sequence is a huge amount of data,causing great difficulties for storage and edit in the late.Mesh sequence reverse engineering algorithm is a great tool for mesh sequence editable and compact representation,although it is not a special compression algorithm,it helps mesh sequence reconstruction and creating models of new pose.For now,deformation graph based reverse engineering algorithm is not perfect.In the light of the deformation graph widely used,an error controllable reverse engineering algorithm is put forward in this paper.Here's the process of this algorithm.First of all,simplify the reference frame of mesh sequence,meanwhile,record simplification process and end up with transitive space of progressive meshes,which contains an initial progressive mesh to be used as initial deformation graph and some simplification records.From the reference frame to any frame in the sequence,there exists an affine transformation for every control node in the deformation graph.Each vertex in the reference frame is affected by several control nodes and,therefore,the deformation graph can drive the deformation.If reconstruction precision does not meet the requirements of accuracy,add some control nodes in some particular regions according to the records,namely partial elaboration on progressive mesh to generate a better deformation graph.Repeat the above steps until reconstruction precision meet the requirements of accuracy.Compared with existing mesh sequence reverse engineering algorithms based on advanced structure,the proposed algorithm can not only get high quality deformation graph,but also reconstruct the mesh sequence well.It controls local error better than ever.
