Colorimetric analysis is an effective method for quantitative testing.Therefore,the colorimetric analysis has a wide range of research and application.With the development of the technology,a new colorimetric method-digital image colorimetric method is widely studied and applied.This method realizes the quantitative detection of the material by analyzing the relevant information of the digital picture.The traditional color information was analyzed by this method such as RGB and CMYK values.However,the parameters were no longer valid when the tone of color is changed such as the color developing product corresponding to different pH solutions.The existing methods based on the color of other indicators to analyze the tone changes are not so valid.With the rapid developing of electronic technology,the popularity and performance of smartphones have been greatly improved and the built-in camera is an excellent image acquisition tool,so the smartphones can be applied to digital image colorimetric analysis.On the other hand,a smartphone application can be developed freely because of the openness system.So we can collect the images and process them by the application.In this paper,we reported a smartphone/mobile app-based method for the quantitative determination of the quantity by analyzing the color of the chromogenic products.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1.A quantitative description of color was studied by converting the initial RGB information of the color to the CIE XYZ chroma system and introduced the various color devices.2.Android operating system and the development environment to build the process were studied.An application to achieve image analysis and algorithm design were written,so the dominant wavelength of color was calculated by application automatically.And the applicability of this detection system was proved through a series of experiment.3.The p H values detection was demonstrated in this paper.We took a picture with the smartphone and analyzed the picture through the application to get the p H value of the solution.The detection results above were compared to the results of the p H meter,and it showed a well consistency between them.The accuracy and feasibility of the detection system were demonstrated and it was clearly seen that the method we proposed is suitable for the detection which the color tone of reaction product changes obviously.
