Traditional optical evaluation methods, such as transfer function curve, spot diagrams, point spread function and various calculation of aberration, are widely used to evaluate imaging system performance. All of these methods have a long history and have been proved to be efficient. However, one disadvantage of these methods mentioned above is that the loss of information during the transmission process cannot be evaluated. The problem can be solved based on the Information Theory: imaging system could be seen as an independent channel which may consist of several sub-channels;when the information produced by the source is transferred via the channel, varying degrees of loss and attenuation of the information occurrs;the loss of the information could be calculated by the information parameters. The thesis bases on the main idea of the Information Theory that the imaging process of imaging system can be converted to the information transfer process, analyzing the imaging system's capacity of transmitting information, constructing the model of the intrinsic frequency domain and calculating the information parameters.First of all, this paper analyzes the convolution imaging process in order to use the product of matrix to represent the imaging process. The object and image should be converted to one-dimensional form, then a two-dimensional conduct of matrix model can be constructed.A two-dimensional transfer matrix will be constructed by reorganizing the PSF.Secondly,an analysis about the features of optical imaging system with limited scale is conducted,so do the errors of the Finite Fourier Transform.Eigen function and Eigen value are solved by the two-dimensional conduct of matrix model.Based on the new series of Eigen function, the space-frequency conversion is able to be completed. Moreover the Eigen function is also used to construct the new series of light intensity harmonics, and the intrinsic frequency domain information transfer model can be built with the results of the new harmonics. The final part includes an analysis about the properties of the photoelectric imaging system, and an introduction of how the intrinsic frequency domain information transfer model is constructed. This thesis designs an imaging simulation experiment aim at calculating the information transfer performance of the photoelectric imaging system through various optical imaging systems and different CCDs.,the results can used to solve the photoelectric matching problem.
