With the development of information technology,the type and form of services provided are becoming diversified.People can request and pay for the resources on demand anywhere and anytime,no matter the resources are the entities like hosts,network equipment,or the abstract computing,storage and networking resources.This is cloud computing.It creates a new service mode,thousands of computers are integrated together to provide services to users,including infrastructure,platform and software,users just need to pay for the services that they have requested.However,due to the increasing size of cloud data centers,the load of network resources grows fast,resulting in unbalanced load of network resources.How to optimize network resources with the way of virtual machine migration is becoming an emphasis.The paper is focused on how to reduce the load of network resources and realize the load balance of network resources by virtual machine migration.Virtual machine migration is one of the most effective resource management ways which has two steps: virtual machine selection and virtual machine placement.The paper proposes the network traffic aware virtual machine migration algorithm which sorts the virtual machines as pairs according to the network traffic.The first pair of virtual machines in the sequence will be migrated.The target host which has the best performance in migration cost and available resources.The algorithm can effectively reduce the network traffic in cloud data centers.Aiming at the problem of unbalanced load of network resources,the paper proposes a layered virtual machine migration algorithm for balancing the load of network resources.This algorithm divides the cloud into several regions according to the bandwidth utilization rate.Every region's load of network resources will be balanced by virtual machine migration.Finally,achieve the load balance of the cloud data center.The algorithm chooses the virtual machine which has the highest or lowest bandwidth utilization rate on the host,meanwhile,the target host also has the highest or lowest bandwidth utilization rate in the region.Meanwhile,we design a modular in OpenStack and the load balance virtual machine migration algorithm have been implemented in this modular.It proves that the algorithm can effectively balance the load of network resource in cloud computing.
