Divination Of Diseases And Its Culture In Dunhuang Divination Documents

In Dunhuang divination documents and literatures,there are many records on divining diseases,which is distributed in documents such as Dunhuang Fabingshu(Pathogenesis Book in Dunhuang),Wuzhao Zhanbufa(Divination Methods of Wuzhao),Lumingshu(Book on Fortune and Destiny),Zhaijing(Scripture of Residency).These records includes the fundmental and plain aspects of daily lives of Dunhuang local people,from which we can peek medicine and cultural situation in Dunhuang during Tang and Song dynasties.The thesis mainly utilizes research methods like textual analysis of documents and historical analysis.Chapter 1: A comprehensive review for records about wizardry and medicine in Dunhuang divination documents.The chapter mainly focuses on medicinal records in divination documents,sorcery records in medical literatures such as Dunhuang Fabingshu,Wuzhao Zhanbufa,Lumingshu.In order to analyze these records based on subsequent contexts,we are focusing on inputting these records and documents in this chapter.Chapter 2: Based on arranged documents and literatures,we have categorized and analyzed relative medical records from the following aspects: disease catalogues,pathogeny and treatment methods.Therefore,a comparatively complete presentation of disease perceptions and relative contents of Dunhuang region in Dunhuang divination documents has been included in this chapter.Chapter 3: The Dunhuang divination documents of disease and their influences have been emphasized and discussed.The view point is aimed at affirming the contributions of wizardry therapies and breaking through traditionally total repudiation of wizardry therapies in mainstream ideas.And this point is analyzed briefly from medical functions,psychological effects and folk customs effects.With the brief discussion in aforementioned 3 chapters,we can get a glimpse of medicinal system in Dunhuang during Tang and Song dynasties.Although during this time doctor has evolved into an independent job,connection between medicine and wizardry was further fused and cooperated.Wizardry treatments recorded in divination documents reflect the following aspects: wizardry is one of the most widely recognized treatment methods in then society,meanwhile it is also the component of then society folk customs and cultural common view.And wizardry and medicinal treatment were the basic components of Dunhuang medicine system.
