With the rapid development of science and technology, the level of automation in all walks of life is getting higher and higher, since entering in the 21 st century. Especially, in recent years, in the automobile welding automation is gaining more and more attention and automated welding equipment gradually towards high efficiency, high speed, high quality in today's market, the level of welding workshop is directly related to the degree of welding equipment automation. Hence, each big enterprise must establish the development direction for the enterprise's welding parts of automation in this current stage, which make the production with excellent performance, high quality, and safety.This paper is around the front door with a welding workshop production line as the research and design object, which analyzes the production process for the left and right front door, and it briefly introduces the control system using some key technologies. This paper also study the BIW at the left and right door production process control system and the latest achievements, which combines the actual process and control requirements, and it is a good way for the design which based on PLC distributed control for the front door production system. The system is divided into three levels, such as the operation management layer, the intermediate process control layer and the field equipment layer, it constructs the control system network(Industrial Ethernet) and the field bus network(DeviceNet). This paper describes the front door control system hardware and software design with Rslogix5000 programming environment.In this paper, we mainly develop the high intelligent, high reliability, low failure rate,high cost performance system to reduce system failure probability and improve the production cycletime,it also improve the paint shop production efficiency. Practice has proved that the system has achieved the expected control requirements, and the operation is good. The whole system has been designed and debugged, and it is stable and it can achieve the purpose of the design.
