The memristor,which was postulated by Leon Chua according to circuit theory in 1971 is considered to be the fourth basic circuit elementbesides thethree kinds of basic circuit element,i.e.,resistor,inductor and capacitor.It reflects the relationship between the magnetic flux and the charge of the circuit.In 2008,HP Labs successfully fabricated the memristors with TiO2 and TiO2-x films,which set off a new round of memristor research.Research of memristors generally focuses on the equivalent circuits and itsapplications.Yetmost equivalent circuitsare built based ontheoperational amplifierwithrelativelycomplex structures,and cannot deal with the electrical signal with higher power,which haslimittedthe applications of memristorin practice,especially in the field of power electronics.Thememristorcharacteristics ofsome typicalrectifier circuitsare analyzed first,and thena flux-controlled memristor equivalent circuitbased on SPWM(Sine-wave Pulse-Width Modulation)control is provided in this paper.Finally,theapplicationsof memristorsin power electronicsis studied roughly.The main contentsof this paper areshownasfollows.1.The harmonic characteristicof the memristor isanalyzed firsaccording to itsmathematical model.And then two kinds ofsimulationmodel based on Simulink and PSpice respectivelyare set up,whichcan beusedfor the analysis ofmemristor application circuits.2.Thememristorcharacteristicsofbridge rectifierand double-voltagerectifierare analyzedfirst.Thenasimpleimplementationof memristorequivalent circuitbased on the series-parallelnetwork withdiodeandcapacitor is proposed.Both the simulation and experimental results show that the input impedance of the proposed circuit has the typical characteristic of a memristor.3.According to theHPmemristormodel,this paper provides a practical two-terminal implementation circuit,i.e.,a flux-controlled memristor equivalent circuit based on SPWM(Sine-wave Pulse-Width Modulation)control algorithm.Theprincipleandthe properties ofourproposedmemristor equivalentcircuit arestudiedtheoreticallyin detail.And itis shown by thesimulationsand experimental results thatthe proposed circuit can be used to handle electrical signal with a higher power level.4.Theapplicationofmemristorintwo practicalcircuits,i.e.over-currentprotection circuit and DC circuitbreaker,isdiscussed roughly,andthesimulation results showthatthe meristor is helpfulforthe improvement ofcircuit properties.
