Slot waveguide antenna array with easy production,wide and diverse distribution of gaps,low loss and other characteristics,are widely used in radar,wireless communications and other fields.The radiation element is cut in the broad or narrow side of the waveguide.The slot can be excited when it is a inclined slot or a longitudinal slot on the narrow wall of the waveguide,but the inclined slot can produce unknown cross polarization.In order to minimize cross-polarization,a new method for exciting narrow-side untilted slot of groove gap waveguide is proposed.When the metal pins and a groove are added to on the lower metal plate of the parallel plate waveguide it turns into a groove gap waveguide.Between the upper and lower metal plates of groove gap waveguide is the substrate layer which is used to fix the parasitic dipole,and the upper metal plate is engraved with untilted slots,and the substrate layer below the metal plate is etched with the dipole.Compared with the traditional waveguide,the fabrication of the gap waveguide is less difficult,so its application prospect is more and more broad.In order to reduce the difficulty of fabrication,this paper combined with groove gap waveguide technology to simplify the fabrication process of the waveguide narrow side slot array.At the same time,the gap waveguide can be separated from the upper metal plate.The metal plate is placed over groove gap waveguide and the substrate layer,and there is no necessity to ensure good electrical contact between the groove gap waveguide and the metal plate to prevent energy leakage.In this paper,the groove gap waveguide is used as a carrier to apply in the antenna arrays.The whole paper focuses on the design process of three waveguide slot antennas which are based on groove gap waveguide.Its main work and research results are as follows:1.The radiation element,which is made up by the untilted slot and the inclined dipole,is respectively applied to the traditional waveguide and grove gap waveguide.The results show that the radiation element which is used in the groove gap waveguide is more efficient.2.The Taylor line source method is used to analyze the waveguide narrow side resonant slotted antenna array,and the conductivity value of each slot is extracted.Then,the parameters of each slot are obtained by MATLAB simulation software,which can be regarded as initial values in the HFSS model.3.In this paper,we studied and designed a Ka-band resonant uniform slotted antenna array based on groove gap waveguide,such realizing the transition from standard rectangular waveguide to groove gap waveguide.The simulation results are given by Ansys HFSS.Among them,the return loss bandwidth of the uniform array is 37.04-37.88 GHz(relative bandwidth is about 2.24%).The gain at center frequency is up to16.4 d Bi,with low cross-polarization below-60 d B.4.A Ku-band resonant Taylor slotted antenna array based on groove gap waveguide is studied and designed.After the simulation and optimization by Ansys HFSS,the Taylor slotted antenna array is manufactured,assembled and measured,and the simulation and experimental results are given.The return loss bandwidth is 14.15-14.67 GHz(relative bandwidth is 3.54%).The gain is up to 16.4 d Bi with a side-lobe level approximately-18.55 d B.The measured results agree well with the measured results.5.A Ka-band 2D array circular polarized antenna based on groove gap waveguide is proposed for the first time,and the T waveguide network is added to feed it.After the simulation and optimization by Ansys HFSS,the simulation results are given.Among them,the return loss bandwidth is 36.13-37.34 GHz(relative bandwidth is 3.3%).The axial bandwidth is 36.19-37.87 GHz(relative bandwidth is 4.5%),the overlapping bandwidth is 36.19-37.34 GHz(relative bandwidth is 3.1%).The gain at center frequency is 12.3 d Bic,with cross-polarization below-16 d B.
