The rapid development of ICT industry in worldwide has been booming the size and the business of the Internet,and the demand of power consumption from network equipment is increasing dramatically at the same time.In recent years,the issue of power efficient in communication has drawn great attention from all over the world,and the technology of green communication has become the hot topic in academic committee and industry.It has been proved that the flexible power management architecture and the effective power saving strategies for network equipment is available to reduce the power consumption of communication filed.The research of this paper is based on power management architecture and power saving strategies for all kinds of network equipment.This paper first analyzes the research background about the subject from the category of green communication,and elaborates the research significance of the subject.On the basis of analyzing the research status of power saving technology at home and abroad,this paper focuses on power management architecture and power saving strategies for network device,and carries out the innovation and improvement to propose hierarchy power management architecture and power saving strategies in LAN and WLAN.Considering the current power management of network device have limitation on the scope of application.In this paper,a network-level power management architecture is proposed,the power consumed by entire network can be managed efficiently in real-time through this architecture and the thinking of hierarchy power management.When it comes to network device power saving,on the one hand,the link bandwidth for traditional wired networks are designed based on the maximum peak load,In order to solve the problem that the link bandwidth is over-provision in most of time,a hybrid energy saving strategies based on wake-up and adaptive link rate is proposed.One the other hand,in high-density and large-scale wireless local network,there is no user associating with most of access points in a long time,In order to ensure the new arrival of the users can timely associate with the AP nearby,each AP need to periodically broadcast beacon outside.Thus a large amount of energy is wasted by this phenomena.To solve this problem,an improved associated process between the mobile terminal and wireless access point after modifying their hardware structure.A power saving strategies which base on users aggregation is achieved at last.Finally,the paper verifies the new scheme's rationality and validity by simulation,and demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of the new energy saving strategies proposed in this paper through simulation results.In addition to,on the basis of summarizing previous research work and this paper's contribution about network device power saving.The research direction of the future work and the problem which is urgent to be solved in this area is pointed out at the end of the paper.
