As the basic unit of wireless communication system,antenna has been greatly developed(the evolution from Hertz antenna to various types of antennas that can be applied to different area)in the time more than a century.With the rapid development of wireless communication systems,the demand of the multi-frequency system with more communication capacity is becoming popular.Therefore,in modern communication system,antennas that can be applied in different communication systems have become a hot topic.The combination of Local Area Network Wireless(WLAN)and Interoperability for Microwave Worldwide Access(WiMAX)can achieve efficient mobile network service.Therefore the task of this paper is the design of multiband antenna which can be applied to WLAN/WiMAX.The main research work is as follows:Firstly,overview of the development of WLAN/WiAMX antennas is presented.The technology of achieving multi-frequency and broadband is also summarized and analyzed.The material mentioned above provides a theoretical basis and support for future research work.Secondly,based on the research mentioned above,four triple-band antennas applied for WLAN and WiMAX communication systems are designed and analyzed.The simulation analysis is carried out,and several antennas are processed and tested.The test results are in good agreement with the simulation results.The performance of these antennas can meet the requirements of the WLAN and WiMAX communication system.Finally new technology of metamaterial is analyzed,and is introduced into the antenna design.An antenna with Electric Field Coupled(ELC,a kind of metamaterial)is designed.
