Laser ranging technology plays a very important role in the field of scientific research, military applications and daily life. Along with people's deeper exploration of space, the contribution of laser ranging is particularly prominent. Comparing to many other ranging methods, laser ranging technology are widely respected due to the advantages of high accuracy,good collimation, strong anti-interference and easy operation. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, the demand for long-reach and high-precision laser ranging technology becomes more urgent with the further development and utilization of space.Traditional laser ranging methods includes both the different advantages and disadvantages and they're suitable for different scenes.This paper focus on both the detection demands for high-precision and long-reach laser ranging technology and development trend of multi-technology synergism. Some products have been achieved as follows:Firstly, aiming at the problem that it's hard to balance the precision and the measurement range in the traditional ranging methods, a compound laser ranging measurement model is established. This model is able to improve the precision of ranging in the long-reach scene by combining the low-order pseudo-random code, pulse and phase ranging technology.Based on the principle verification, the simulation system is designed according to the idea of functional modularization and the efficiency of the theoretical model is evaluated by the comparison with the traditional ranging technology. The simulation results show that the compound ranging program can realize the precision of centimeter level over the several kilometers testing scenes and it's performance is superior to the traditional ranging technology.Secondly, according to the theoretical model and simulation system,the hardware platform based on FPGA is designed and built. The design work of the platform is divided into six functional modules: beam emission,receiving detection and A/D sampling, analog distance, high precision clock measurement and phase discrimination and composite algorithm.The building work includes hardware device, transmission medium selection and FPGA ranging program design. But in view of the experimental conditions, the laser ranging hardware platform is finally tested for experimental research. The experimental results show that the system is able to realize meter and sub-meter precision at the kilometers-distance testing scene.
