It is of the great importance of the military and civil values to study of the inter-satellite high accuracy ranging technology for satellite formation in the space.This paper is begins with the introduction of the basic theory of the laser ranger based on the impulse laser, followed by the analysis and discussion of the system configuration and the technical index of the high accuracy ranging lidar.The detail design schemes of the high accuracy ranging lidar are given subsequently. Based on the dual-optical wedge scanning technique, the volume of the system is decreasing with the satisfied of the work field of the visile and the need of the mountant on the satellite. And the technical breakthrough of the centimeter-precision ranging by the impulse laser is obtained by the timing of the signal threshold constant-ratio and the high-precision delay measurement.A laser ranger model between the satellites is developed and corresponding experiments are done to verify its performance. The results show that laser ranger system is feasible and effective.
