Recently with the development of the Internet of things, PLC(power line communication) is gradually paid more attention to. Power line communication technology is the technology which communicates by making use of the power line. However, the transmission distance of the power line is limited because of the complexity of the power line as a communication channel which is caused by the non-uniform power line and various electrical equipment. Generally the power line communication equipment improves the transmission quality by transmitting data with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) or spread spectrum communication technology in the physical layer. So far there is no other way that improves transmission distance apparently but using relay technology. Therefore, it is of great significance to research algorithms of high throughput, low delay and scalability to solve the bottleneck problem of power line communication network in the power line communication network.This thesis analyzes and summarizes the channel characteristics, the physical layer technology, the MAC layer technology and the network layer technology of the power line communication system. On the basis of these works, a routing algorithm for power line communication network is proposed. The routing algorithm mainly includes two parts,the algorithm of the network topology formation which describes the process of network initialization, and the algorithm of the network maintenance which copes with the accidents while the network is in operation normally. Simulation Experiments prove that the proposed algorithm performs better in the large scale network and in the power line communication environment of drastic changes.In addition, the verification needs the support of actual environment and equipment and development cycle and cost is not controllable,therefore, it has important practical value to build a flexible system level simulation platform in network layer technology development of power line communication network. In this thesis, a design of system level simulation architecture for power line communication network is also proposed, based on the analysis of the power line communication system.In the simulation platform, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms are verified.
