Mobile communication was prompted to be more high-speed and broad-band by the growing demand. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) has been being adopted in mobile communication systems widely due to its so many advantages. However, the drawbacks of OFDM emerge as the bottleneck in the developing of mobile communication. As a generalized MCM technology relative to OFDM, Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) is a promising technology because of the improvements such as the reduced out-of-band emis-sion and increased spectral efficiency. Taking the thinking of OFDM as a basis,the principle of FBMC is detailed. This thesis examines the orthogonality and the implementation of FBMC-OQAM systems, the FBMC systems modulated by Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (OQAM).FBMC-OQAM systems are affected apparently by the Frequency Offset and Frequency Rate. In multicarrier systems, because of sensitiveness to fre-quency, estimation and compensation are of great importance, which determine system performance directly. Based on the property of FBMC-OQAM sys-tems, a proper structure of preamble sequence is proposed to finish estimation of Frequency Rate, integer Frequency Offset and fractional Frequency Offset in FBMC-OQAM systems. The performance is evaluated by simulation.Finally, a simple baseband FBMC-OQAM tranceiver which have the fea-tures that can transmit and receive Chinese characters through PC terminal is presented in this thesis in detail. The algorithm of the joint Frequency Rate and Frequency Offset estimation is implemented to enhance the capacity of resisting the disturbance of Frequency Offset.
