A Dual-perspective Study On News Games

Nowadays,with the rapid development of science and technology,media technology is also under reformation.This reform blur the dividing lines among media and the trend of convergence is irresistibke.The convergence in media brings about the polynary of mass media and the informatization of society.The symbol of moving into post-modern society is that we are in a information society.The new product of the media convergence and post-modernity is News Game.It is not only a game but also a news genre.It is a special production of the time.The news game procides players the virtual experience of the real materials as well as delivering a news event based on real events and matters. The development of news game is divied into three stages.The first stage is the forming stage(1980-2003 ) :The news game haven't attract public attention,there are no well-known news, during this time;The second stage is the developing stage (2004-2013): in this stage, news game gets popular and developed. Some famous news games appeared such as ...The third stage (from 2014 till now): the news game keeps developing while not flourishing. So the author calls it the further developing stage. In this stage, the news game varies while people get more knowledge about it as well as more people start to read them. During this period, the most popular 3 news games, Floppy Candidate, Trum Pinata and Jrump, are produced with the process of presidential election, which could help the players get knowledge about the election during playing this game. At the same stage, those political news games appeared and developed.I think the news games developed very slow, furthermore, it has also met some problems. I will dicuss it in the later part. On the other hand, the development for domestic news games is delayed when compared with the foreign ones. It is relevant to the development of game and acceptance of consumers. Those researches on domestic news games will be done seperately from the foreign ones.
